Appartementhotel Zugspitzhof - A Journey Through Time

The Appartement Zugspitzhof has been run by three generations of our family. It was founded by my grandparents, Ignaz and Maria Wilhelm. My grandfather, Mr. Ignaz Wilhelm, operated a plumbing business, while my grandmother, Mrs. Maria Wilhelm, managed the rentals and the family farm.

• 1971

  Plumbing Business

  My father, Mr. Ignaz Wilhelm Junior, always had a knack for craftsmanship and took over the plumbing business in 1971 at the age of 22. He was one of the youngest master plumbers in Tyrol. With five employees, he was able to practice his dream profession in the best possible way. His wife, Anita Wilhelm, took care of all administrative tasks and also showed her dedication in the workshop and on the roof during turbulent times. Mr. Ignaz Wilhelm Junior was always a very skilled businessman who was able to ensure customer satisfaction. Through correct procedures, precise execution of orders, fair pricing, and reliability, my father built a solid reputation in the Zugspitz region and beyond.

  
• 1982

  First Guest Rooms

  In addition to the plumbing business, the first guest rooms were converted into an apartment in 1982. He was always highly regarded by his plumbing colleagues and was elected as the deputy master of the chamber in 2000. Several attempts to hand over the well-established traditional business to a successor were unsuccessful, which prompted my father to finally close the plumbing business.

  Transformation into an Apartment House

  At nearly 60 years old, my father found the courage to transform the plumbing business into a 4-star apartment hotel.

  Takeover of the Business by Markus Wilhelm

  From 2007 to 2012, my brother managed the apartment hotel as a secondary business. Until 2010, my mother, Mrs. Anita Wilhelm, was also active in the apartment hotel.

• 2012

  Takeover of the Business by Katharina Wilhelm

  Since June 2012, I, Katharina Wilhelm, have been running this business in the third generation. I spent three years at the Villa Blanka Hotel School in Innsbruck, where I received my diploma as a hotel management professional. After graduation, I seized the opportunity to gain experience in various hotels in service and at the reception. My greatest role models have always been my parents, who provided me with support even during challenging times. The hospitality industry is my life... I have been able to say this since a young age.

  My parents instilled this passion in me, and I have never regretted it; I am forever grateful to them.

  

  Providing excellent service and maintaining a welcoming demeanor for our guests is of utmost importance to me. This is why I decided to transform the Appartementhotel Zugspitzhof into everything you could possibly imagine from a 4-star establishment on the sunny side of the Zugspitze.

  When I took over the business in the summer of 2012, my mother trained me so well in the office that I was able to manage everything independently in no time. Even before the takeover, I knew that I would not be fulfilled with traditional apartment rentals. So, I started offering apartments with breakfast buffets, half-board options, extended reception hours, light snacks, ice cream sundaes, and beverages. This initiative has been well received and is increasingly appreciated by our guests.

• 2013

  Winter Garden Addition and Renovation of Appartement Zugspitze

  A big dream is coming true. To provide our guests with even more comfort, atmosphere, options, service, and entertainment, we are expanding our seating areas with a Tyrolean-style winter garden.
  
  Appartementhotel... a combination of apartments and hotel. Our guests can enjoy a typical apartment vacation while also having the opportunity to indulge at the bar, at the breakfast buffet, or in the new cozy winter garden. I am also fortunate to have my partner, Philipp, by my side. He supports me fully in the apartment hotel. By profession, he is a software engineer, and he has always dreamed of running his own business. Knowing that I could not manage this apartment hotel without the support of a partner, he decided to start his own business in the fall, allowing him to be more flexible in assisting me. Although he has a different background, he puts in a lot of effort, smiles, and has a heartfelt passion for the hospitality industry. We can proudly say that our outdoor area is impeccably maintained by many diligent hands.

  Of course, my parents are not completely retired; they are always ready to lend a helping hand.

• 2014

  Wedding and Renovation of the Garden Area

  Wedding of Katharina Wilhelm and Philipp Zangerle. We are pleased to share that we have chosen the family name Zangerle. In spring, the garden area with the terrace was renewed.

• 2015

  New Private House and Additional Apartment

  Private construction for the Zangerle family, renovation of Appartement Grubigstein. Our apartment hotel is expanding: Starting December 2015, we will add one new apartment for our guests, Appartement "Seebensee". A dream apartment with two bedrooms, a living kitchen, bathtub and shower, separate WC, and two balconies with stunning views, all furnished in Tyrolean style.

• 2016

  Birth of Leo, Facade Renovation, and Renovation of Appartement Sonnenspitze

  Complete renovation of "Appartement Sonnenspitze". With much love and in "Tyrolean style", we have furnished the apartment for you.

• 2017

  New Terrace, Renovation of Appartement Panorama, and Birth of Amadeus

  Complete renovation of Appartement Panorama. Our house was equipped with the latest fire alarms. On November 4, 2017, our second son, Amadeus, was born in Innsbruck.

• 2018

  New Terrace

  Our Appartement Grubigstein receives two balconies. New terrace/Wetterstein.

• 2018

  Bicycle Room, Children's Playground, and Public Toilet

  New bicycle room and children's playground. New public toilet with changing area. New energy corner in our wellness area.

• 2020

  Business Handed Over to Daughter Katharina Zangerle, Renovation of Appartement Seebensee and Zugspitze

  The Appartement Seebensee has been updated to the latest standards, featuring two new separate bathrooms with a wonderful roof dormer.
  
  The Appartement Zugspitze receives a new kitchen in Tyrolean style and new windows.

  Expansion of Fitness Room and Office

  My husband Philipp now works in a new office building and welcomes his clients from easyGuest.management in a special atmosphere.

  Now our guests also have the opportunity to enjoy a workout in our fitness room.
• 2022

  Birth of Our Daughter Elsa

  Elsa was born on March 20, 2022, in Innsbruck. The entire family is very grateful for this miracle.
